I just haven't had the desire to update on the mundane details of my life so I have been staying off of lj.

Yesterday was a happy and sad day for me. The sad part was that I had to drop Geri off at the airport so she could fly off to New York. She had a couple friends that were so excited with her starting college that they paid for her to come visit them. I am very excited for her as it is her first time visiting the city and she really needed some time away from her sister's house and all the kids. She hasn't flown in a few years and she ends up being the lucky one to be pulled aside for a full pat down even though she didn't set off the metal detector. As they were checking through her carry-on they found her cigarettes and confiscated her lighter. She was already rather nervous about the trip so this didn't help much. She called me once she got off the plane to tell me that she had arrived but unfortunately I didn't get the call and when I tried to call back she said that she was getting ready to get on the subway so she would call me later. I didn't get a call last night but I wasn't overly surprised since she was probably having so much fun that she just forgot to call me. I hope I hear from her today because I really miss her and want to talk with her.

On a happier note, I have picked up a second job working for my friend, [info]eagles_wing. She is the new food and beverage manager at Big Islan Grill in Albert Lea, MN. She needed a banquet bartender for this weekend so I am going to be doing a small banquet on Saturday night. I will be leaving the Rainforest and immediately driving down to work the banquet. She also said that if I want to pick up some serving shifts that she can squeeze me in on the schedule. It will be nice to pick up some extra money even though the menu kind of sucks and the other servers really aren't that good but I guess I will just have to show them how to really make some money.

Anyway, I should probably end there so I can get my phone back to being ready to take calls just in case someone decides to call me.

I just love it when I can't sleep. My head is so full of thoughts that I can't seem to settle down to get some rest. I think part of the problem is that I'm not in my normal spot on the bed. I usually sleep on the side and tonight I ended up in the middle so I just can't get comfortable. I spent yesterday helping take care of Geri since she came down with the flu. I arrived in Menomonie around 2 pm and crawled in bed with Geri for a few hours until it was time to eat. Around 7 pm Geri had me run out and get here some NyQuil liqui-gels and I also picked up some popsicles since whenever I am sick with the flu that is the only thing I want to eat.

So far Geri seems to be feeling better but I guess I'll see in a few hours when it is time to get out of bed. I am supposed to go to work tonight but I guess I'll see if I get called off again like I did yesterday due to how cold it is right now. Amazingly my heat suddenly starting working on the way over to Wisconsin yesterday but I'm sure it was only a fluke and won't work the next time I drive the car. I will be taking the car in next week to get fixed because it probably needs a general tune-up as well as working heat.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In August on a flight to Bangladesh, I stole the emergency flight information card (-40 points). In May [info]ikichi and I robbed a bank (-50 points). In November I donated bone marrow to [info]_vermin_ in a life-saving procedure (300 points). Last Saturday I gave [info]rachelleappelle a wet willie, then I took it back (-5 points). Last Sunday I broke [info]trancekat's X-Box (-12 points).

Overall, I've been nice (193 points). For Christmas I deserve a shiny red ball!

Sincerely,

I spent almost the entire week in Menomonie. I headed over there on Tues and stayed unitl I left for work this morning. I have been trying to help Geri out as much as I can so she doesn't feel so stressed out. This includes doing the grocery shopping, helping with the cleaning, doing the laundry, and helping take care of Raven. We have been dealing with potty training and that has been rather interesting. Raven is doing fairly well but she hasn't quite gotten the concept that when you get that certain feeling you have to go whether you want to or not so we are still having some accidents. We are also having problems getting her to stay in bed at night because she is using the excuse that she has to go potty as a reason to get out of bed. It is rather frustrating because I can't tell if she really needs to go or if she is just trying to stay awake. If anyone has any advice I would love to hear it. Wow, if someone had told me two years ago that I would be helping take care of a little one I would have laughed at them. Now I can't imagine my life without Raven's smiling face.

On Thursday, I took Geri and Raven over to the Mall of America so that I could treat them to lunch at the Rainforest Cafe since they have never eaten there. We ate next to one of the fish tanks and Raven had a blast. She even wandered over to the gorilla room and checked out the animatronic gorillas. I was really surprised by that because she is normally very scared of animatronic things. Geri said that she was curious of them but if they had been any closer she probably wouldn't have stayed in the room. After lunch we headed over to see Santa and that went pretty well. Raven wasn't scared of Santa but she seemed more interested in the other kids than in him. We managed to get a really cute pic of her and Santa so I purchased the eight wallet set and somehow got a free 5 x 7 in addition to a discount since I work in the mall. I still need to get my wallet from Geri so I can have a pic of Raven to carry with me.

Not much else to report except that it is less than a week until I head out for the Depeche Mode concert. I will be staying an extra day since I couldn't get a flight out on Saturday which will make Sunday a very interesting day since my flight leaves at 6:00 am and I have to work all day as soon as I get back to MN.

[info]trancekat just booked my flight out for the Depeche Mode concert. I will be returning on Sunday morning extremely early so that I can still make it to work. It's a good thing that the airport is so close to MOA because I have about an hour to spare between when the flight comes in and when I have to start work. It is going to be really nice to get away from Minnesota for a couple days right before the chaos truly ensues at work.

So after getting my brakes changed now my car has decided that it doesn't want me to stay warm this winter. That's right the heat is acting up so I will have to take it in again for some more repairs. It really wouldn't bother me that much because I really don't use the heat for much more than defrosting the windows but I am now driving around Geri and Raven when I'm around them and they don't deal as well with the cold. I was going to take it in tomorrow to get the ball rolling but I am going to have to wait until next week. I am not feeling the best and I figure I should just get some extra rest and with the holiday this week is just too jam packed to bother with trying to get the car in to the shop.

Speaking of turkey day, this year is going to be very busy. I will be starting at my grandparents around noon and then around 2 I will be heading to Inver Grove Heights to meet up with Geri's family for meal number 2. I will then be taking Geri over to [info]saracura's for their orphan Thanksgiving. I am hoping to make it by around 7 so I can get in on the dessert and partying. Geri and I will then be heading back to Wisconsin to get some rest before figuring out our plans for Friday.

I'm over in Menomonie with Geri and Raven for the next couple days. I headed over last night after work and I will be staying until Sat morning when I have to head back to work. Today was spent bumming around the house even though we did have the thought of going over to Chippewa Falls to tour the Leinenkugel brewery. Unfortunately, by the time we decided to do this it was getting late so we are postponing it until a later time when we can go without Raven.

Tomorrow we are going to be traveling over to the Twin Cities. The plans thus far are to head to the Mall of America so that we can get pics of Raven sitting on Santa's lap and to eat at the Rainforest so I can introduce them to some of my co-workers. There is also the possibility of taking them by so [info]rachelleappelle can finally meet them. After that I'm sure there will be other things we will find to do but who knows. I am such a non-planner when it comes to things like this because I always find if I make too many plans invariably something comes up to ruin them.

In other news, there is a possibility that I will be flying out to visit [info]trancekat in early December so that we can attend the Depeche Mode concert at Madison Square Garden. I should be hearing back from him later this evening if everything is still going to happen *crosses fingers* Anyway, I'll keep you all informed on what happens.

I sitting at the coffee shop without wireless internet once again waiting for my brakes to be put in. The good news is that the total cost for new brakes and rotors plus labor was under $300. The car should be ready in about an hour. After I pick up the car I get to go home and get stuff packed so I can head to Wisconsin after work this evening. I wish I could afford to let someone work for me so I could get there earlier than around 11 pm but oh well at least I have the next 2 days off so I can spend plenty of time with Geri and Raven.

I had a great time on Monday seeing my friends model at the Saloon. I even ended up helping change models. It is so strange how these things happen. I was just wandering to the back bar and Dori stopped me and asked if I could help change a few models so they would be ready for the next part of the show. The next thing I know I'm helping three women change into clothes. You could say I have lived every straight man's fantasy since I have done this more than once.

Yesterday was spent at the Rainforest where we were actually kind of busy since they only had six servers on the floor. After work I headed to Lakeville and filled out an application at Copper Bleu which is opening the week of Christmas. I heard about it from a co-worker who was hired and told to send down anyone she felt was qualified. I should hear back from them tomorrow if they want me to come in for a second interview. The lady that interviewed me seemed to like me so we'll see.

So I'm sitting in one of the two coffee shops in BFE, I mean Waseca, and they don't even have wireless internet as I wait to hear word on how much it is going to cost for new brakes on my car. I have to keep getting off the internet so I can check my phone for calls since I am using it for my isp. So far no word but I am really not in the mood to hear how much it is going to cost. The only nice thing is the shop that is doing the work doesn't charge very much for labor.

I spent the weekend working doubles so I am still a little tired but I made decent money. Of course that will all be going to new brake pads and possibly new rotors. I spent a few days with Geri last week and we had a great time. On Thurs I brought her over to Mpls and we hung out with [info]redghost until she had to head off to class. Raven and Ian were playing together and it was so cute. When it was time to leave Ian wouldn't give Raven a hug so she took the initiative and just hugged him and he gave that "oh gross" kind of look. After that we headed to the park and stayed there until the soccer moms all started showing up with their bratty kids. Raven doesn't like swings and she was trying to get on one when one of the previously mentioned bratty kids stole it from her with mommy dearest standing right there. I almost said something and then I figured it would have done no good so I left it alone. After that we decided it was time to go and Raven threw a fit. Geri was very patient with her even though I could tell that she was getting upset. I commend Geri on her patience as she doesn't yell at Raven like so many other people I see. We then headed to Cub so Geri could get groceries and to kill some time so we could avoid traffic on 94. We had a full cart and then I remembered that I didn't unpack my car so I wasn't 100% sure everything would fit. I went out to the car and moved some stuff around and all the groceries fit with room to spare. We headed back to Menomonie and unpacked the car and spent the rest of the night bumming around. I did get a chance to finally take some pics of Geri in my black leather hat which turned out awesome. I think she looks better in that hat then I do. I would let her have it but I love it too much. It works so well for those I don't feel like doing anything with my hair days.

Oh well I better get off and check for voicemails again. Have a great day everyone!

The following is a link to an article about my sister, [info]rachelleappelle and her designs. She is a designer from Minneapolis, MN and she is beginning to become semi-famous up here. I have had the opportunity to model for her on various occasions and seeing her get this exposure really makes me proud. I have been there since the beginning when she would take random items and turn them into an outfit. One of my favorite stories she told me was of a trip she took in high school to New York with her fellow drama students. She had good to Greenwich Village in a skirt made of old men's ties and was in a shop where she was approached by the shop owner who wanted to know where she found her skirt. When the lady found out she made it she wanted Rachel to do some work for her but at the time Rachel was unable to. I wonder what would have happened if my sister had done some design work for that lady. Maybe she would be in New York right now designing away. Anyway enough reminiscing for me.

Keep up the great work, Sis!

I made it home from Tulsa in one piece even though the trip home was very dull. On Saturday night after talking to Geri, my cell phone died and refused to start back up. I was fairly sure it was the battery since it is about 14 months old and they usually need to be changed about every year. It did have a moment where it decided to work so I was able to call people for a very short amount of time to give them an update on my progress after that it was dead again for the remainder of the trip. I got it home and put my spare battery in and now it seems to be working fine so I have internet again. The trip home was fairly uneventful except for the three deer that ran in front of my car in the middle of the day down in Missouri. That was quite a shock!

I didn't really get much done on Saturday until later in the evening. I went to dinner with Karim, Toni, and [info]lovegoth at Caz's Charthouse where we had a blast talking about the weird people that were at the fetish ball. There were definitely some characters. One guy was a vampire wannabee who was named Darkness and there was this other person dressed in a black full-body spandex suit. We nicknamed her Period. After we finished eating [info]lovegoth and I went over to Toni's so she could change into her evening wear. While I was there Toni let me look through this bag of body jewelry that she forgot to hand out at the ball and I selected some new studs for my tongue. I am finally getting used to the feeling because they are flat on top not a ball. We then headed to Caz for drinks and general mischief. I ended up drinking quite a bit since it was my last night and I didn't have to drive. I started out with Heine and Jag then switched to Top Shelf Darth Vader's (think Long Island only instead of coke switch to Jag). They are very tasty but you don't need to many before you feel really good. We stayed there until close and then headed to Tom's new after hours club for some food and dancing. The music was awesome but I only got to stay until around 3 since [info]lovegoth wanted to get home. I said my goodbyes to all my new friends in Tulsa and we headed home. I slept until 11 and then got ready to head home. On the way I stopped by Best Buy to find out about my phone but they couldn't fix it. I am supposed to call the help line and then they will send me a new phone. I am not sure I want to do this since it is currently working with the spare battery but a shiny new phone would be nice except I will lose all my ringtones and games. I was able to pull all my pics and my phonelist off the phone using some software I have. On the way home I did stop at a rest stop in Iowa because they have free wireless internet. I took about an hour break and talked to Geri since my conversation with her earlier was cut short due to my phone dying. I rolled into my house around 11:30 and was instantly attacked by my kitty. He really missed me and would not stop talking until I gave him tons of love. I feel kind of bad because I am going to be gone the next couple days because I will be going to Hard Mondays tonight and then spending time with Geri tomorrow after work so he won't see me again until Weds.

I just found out this morning that I am in no danger of having my car repoed because I am so far ahead in my payments that I don't need to make another one until Feb. I plan on paying again before then but it alleviates some stress for me because I was really trying to figure out how I was going to catch up on my payments.

It's amazing how fast my life is going right now. I just realized that I haven't posted anything about Halloween so here goes. I spent the entire weekend working so I didn't get the opportunity to go out. On Saturday, Geri and Raven were both feeling sick so I tried to stay home with them so I could help them feel better. Unfortunately things didn't turn out as planned. I found someone to work for me who realized at the last moment that he had his kids for the evening so I had to hurry from Menomonie to MOA so that I could work. This put me in a sour mood of course and the tips were pretty shitty so all in all it was just a bad night. I headed home and got ready for my double on Sunday. Sunday went much better and I made a decent amount of money.

The previous week I had found someone to work for me on Halloween so I was able to spend the day with Geri and Raven. We ended up going trick or treating along with Geri's niece, Gabby and her nephew, Stephan. We were having a hard time finding houses in her neighborhood that were giving out candy so Stephan guided me to a better neighborhood and the kids got quite a bit. Geri and I even ended up getting some candy at one of the houses. I had a blast taking the kids out. It made me remember what it was like to go out trick or treating as a kid. The weather was perfect and we ended up walking through this neighborhood that is in a wooded area so it was kind of spooky. Raven dressed up as a dark princess, Gabby was a dark doll, Stephan was a zombie, and I got in on the fun as a convict. After trick or treating, we checked the kids candy and then Geri and I went to the bar that we went to on our first date for a couple drinks. We stayed there for a little while and then headed back to get some sleep. Of course we did not get to sleep right away because we stayed up and talked but oh well.

I was supposed to go to work on Tuesday but I got a call from a co-worker that wanted my shift so I spent the day with Geri and Raven. We ended up at Applebee's later that evening for dinner and I got to have my first experience with Raven in a restaurant. Everything went fairly well but Raven was definitely getting tired by the time we left.

Wednesday morning Geri, Raven and I all went to the park before I had to go to work and had quite a bit of fun. Raven was willing to go down the slide by herself so I didn't have to try to squeeze down the kiddie slide. After the park, I headed to work and pretty much wasted my time. It was so slow that it truly was not worth going. I got home and the first thing my mother said was "the prodigal son returns". It is so funny. I think my parents are missing me since I haven't been spending much time at home recently. I guess they are just so used to me being there that when I'm not they don't know what to do.

Thurday I got up and started on my trip down to Tulsa, OK to visit my [info]lovegoth. The trip was uneventful and it only took nine hours which was a relief since all the map sites said it would take over ten. Thursday evening was spent at a cookout for the people that were involved with the Fetish Ball that was on Friday night. I met Master Liam who is from LA and is one of a handful of masters in the US. He had many interesting stories about pornstars (one involving Jenna Jameson and 4! pool balls) and other various things involving bondage and piercings.

The Fetish Ball last night was interesting even though there were some major technical difficulties. Axis, the band that performed, kept tripping the circuit breaker so they only got to play 2.5 songs. During one of the sets, I got pulled up on stage by someone I didn't know. The performer that pulled me up on stage told me how sexy I looked in my leather kilt and waist cincher. After their set was over, she thanked me for going up on stage and gave me a big hug. It was rather sweet and she was pretty cute, too. It was nice to be part of the group putting on the show because I was able to get in and take some up close pics during the preparation for the body suspension and during the actual suspension. I will try and get my pics up fairly quickly along with the few I took from Halloween.

The rest of the evening was spent trying to keep people from crashing our small after party. It was meant for the people involved with the show and somehow practically everyone from the club ended up at the Holiday Inn expecting to party all night long. The cops were called at one point to get people to leave the hotel but no one got kicked out of our room. All in all a fun but stressful day.

And yes for those that are interested I will bring it along for you to inspect.

Subject:Pumpkin carving fun...
Time:10:22 am
Current Mood:[mood icon] confused
I spent last night at [info]saracura's house with [info]redghost, Ian, Josh, Brenda, Jeff and a new person I met named George. We had sloppy joes for dinner and spent the rest of the evening carving pumpkins. I am not very good at drawing so I opted to use a stencil of a bat for my carving and I opted for a white pumpkin for that extra gothy look. It turned out awesome even though it took me quite a while to get it finished. I have not done pumpkin carving since I was a kid so it was extra special for me. This is something I will definitely be doing again only next time I think I will be wearing latex gloves to keep the goo off my fingers. After the carving was finished we toasted up some pumpkin seeds for eating and I was sent home with some since there were so many.

Later in the evening I caught Geri on messenger so we talked for about an hour. While I was talking to her Demetria showed up and wanted to know what I was doing so I told her I was talking to a girl from Wisconsin. Out of nowhere George wanted to know where she was from and her name. It turns out he knows her and he asked me if I wanted to know all her dark secrets. I declined as I feel that would be dishonest since we all have skeletons in our closet and if we want to share these with others that is our right. I told Geri that George said hi and that set off a chain of events which ended with her calling me because it was taking to long for me to answer her questions through my phone. She was very weirded out by me meeting him because at first she thought I was his friend. I explained that I had literally just met him so it was no big deal. We got off the phone and talked a little longer on messenger until my battery almost died at which time I said goodbye for the evening. She had said that she wants to tell me some stuff about George which confuses me. The thing that confuses me even more is what George said to me as I was saying my goodbyes. His last words to me were "Good luck". I'm not sure if he is just fucking with me or if there is something really bad I don't know and I hate being in the dark. I admit that I don't know that much about Geri but I don't know if I should ask her what he might have meant by that comment. Any suggestions? I really care about her and Raven and I don't want to fuck this up. I will be heading over her way for the next couple days tomorrow so we will have time to discuss this but I don't know how to approach the subject. GGGRRRRR! God I hate drama, why does it always seem to find me? Anyway, I better end this post since I have to get some shit done before I head to work in a few hours.

Let's see since the last time I posted quite a few things have happened. The NIN show in Chicago was a great show but the show in Minneapolis was even better. My stay in Chicago was great even though it was only a day and a half. It was great to see [info]trancekat once again. We ended up doing some shopping around Clark and Belmont and hit up a great sushi bar before I headed for home. It was definitely worth staying for the sushi though and it was very hard to head home. As a result, I ended up leaving late for home so I didn't get in until 3:30 am. It made for a bad day of work on Sunday but I struggled through and made some money. I was supposed to work the bar that night but I was able to go home since Tracy wanted to stay for me.

I have been spending some time in Menomonie, Wisconsin with a great lady. Her name is Geri and she has a 3 year old daughter named Raven. I met her through Hotornot.com and have been taliking to her online in addition to my trips to see her. I spent 8 hours with her and Raven yesterday. We went to a couple cemeteries and to a local park. I took a few pics of them that I will probably add to my smugmug gallery. It was a great day as the weather was perfect for playing outside. I will head her way again next week on my day off if everything works out.

I had gotten in a discussion with [info]redghost about the origins of some of the phrases we use today and she wanted to know the origin of the phrase "nosebleed section" so I did a quick search on Google and found this:

Could you please clarify the meaning of the term "nosebleed section" in regard to auditorium seating? I am also curious about the origination of the phrase.

This has always been a favorite of mine.

The term nosebleed is used in various constructions referring actually or figuratively to great heights. The "nosebleed section" of a stadium is the highest part of the place, the seating that's farthest from the stage or field.

This is the usual sense, and is found in such constructions as "nosebleed seats" and just "the nosebleeds." Other senses are probably extended from here. Example: "Raising the level of Congressional hypocrisy to nosebleed heights" (Wired, 1995); "Interest rates that start at high and extend to very high and nosebleed" (Time, 1996). A derived term, said to be used in basketball, is nosebleeder 'a basketball player who can jump extremely high'.

All of these uses allude to the fact that people can get nosebleeds when they are at high altitudes. This is caused by several factors: the dry air one tends to find up there leads to swelling of the nasal passages; there is less air pressure opposing your blood pressure, so the blood vessels have to pump harder; and cell membranes function differently at different ambient pressures, so the walls of the blood vessels in the nose can be weakened. Of course, this only happens at relatively high altitudes--differences of thousands of feet. The use we're discussing is humorous because it suggests that the "nosebleed section" is so high that it can cause these effects.

Nosebleed in the literal sense 'bleeding from the nose' dates from the mid-nineteenth century, though the word was used as a term for a red flower in the fifteenth century. Nosebleed in allusive reference to high altitudes dates from the 1970s, though it could well be earlier.

It was actually really fun because I found out the origin of quite a few different phrases such as "dead as a door nail", "three sheets to the wind", and "room to swing a cat". Some of these I already knew but it was really interesting to see all these phrases laid out on one webpage including some that are rarely ever used anymore.
